British Colonial Rosewood Writing Table

Mid 19th century

A British colonial rosewood writing table with a rectangular overhanging top that is made of one piece of wood.  It has one long drawer flanked by two short drawers with brass drop handles. The circular reeded legs are turned and tapered, flare out at the bottom and terminate in a bun foot.

The table is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made of has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain.
