Anglo-Indian Rosewood Linen PressMid 19th century
A British colonial Regency linen press in rosewood. It has a moulded cornice with rounded corners above two cupboard doors with arched panels. When opened they reveal an interior containing four rosewood lined sliding linen trays and two drawers with recessed brass handles. The lower section has a rectangular moulded top with rounded corners above two short drawers over two long drawers with the original recessed brass handles. It stands on beautifully turned bun feet and splits into two sections for easy removal. The press still retains the original backboards.
The cupboard is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The rosewood has a dark shade with a striking grainCalcutta
