Indo-Dutch Rosewood Storage BoxMid 19th century
A Dutch colonial storage box made of rosewood with nicely contrasting brass details. On the sides as well as on the base, the box is strengthened and simultaneously decorated with brass straps. The inside reveals several small storage compartments as well as a larger one, all underneath a lift out tray. Two brass hinges secure the lid to the back. The box, that was modeled after the larger colonial chest, rests on a moulded plinth.
The box is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing.
