Anglo-Indian or British Colonial Teakwood Pedestal DeskMid 19th century
A British colonial pedestal desk in teakwood with nicely contrasting rosewood details. The deep frieze features an inverted centre section with a large drawer flanked by two smaller ones. Both pedestals have a paneled door that opens to reveal three shelves on the left and one shelve on the right side. Both sides of the pedestals with arched panels. The desk stands on eight bun legs ending in a small ring.
The desk has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The inside and back have also been finished. The teakwood has a rich warm shade with a striking grain.Calcutta
